Scotiabank EFT Technical Reference & Guidelines
One Time EFT Payment Import Field Rules
Type— alwaysEOfor a one-time payment import (this tool sets it automatically).Payment Group— must match a Payment Group already set up on your ScotiaConnect EFT Payments service.Institution/Transit— the payee's (beneficiary's) bank routing, validated against ScotiaConnect's BENE BANK table.Amount— must be numeric and > 0; $ and commas are accepted by ScotiaConnect but this tool outputs a plain decimal.Payment Type— must be exactlyCreditorDebit.Cross Ref. Number— mandatory for this import type (max 19 chars), unlike some other banks' optional cross-reference fields.CPA Code— must be numeric and exist in ScotiaConnect's CPA code list for your service.
Canadian Institution ID Reference
Canadian EFT standard encodes banking routing as 0 + 3-digit Institution + 5-digit Transit:
0002— Scotiabank (The Bank of Nova Scotia)0001— Bank of Montreal (BMO)0003— Royal Bank of Canada (RBC)0004— Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD)0010— Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC)
The Institution/Transit fields in this format describe the payee's bank (the BENE BANK table) — there's no separate "return account" field, since your own Scotiabank source account is already linked to your chosen Payment Group inside ScotiaConnect.
